The problem
VP of IT Gus Gelpi identified personnel as the primary threat vector and advocated for network micro-segmentation as the core defensive measure. Windows firewall rules were unmanageable at scale, and the business needed segmentation strong enough to provision controlled access during corporate M&A and an insurance unit divestiture.
How BTA delivered
BTA deployed Cisco Secure Workload to provide application dependency mapping and traffic isolation policies. Segmentation was applied across business units to create defensible silos that restrict threat actor lateral movement. During the divestiture, the platform allowed controlled access provisioning to specific servers for the purchasing entity while blocking unauthorized traffic.
Outcomes in production
BTA partnered with CGB to implement segmentation across 400+ servers and workloads. Director of IT Steve Kitzinger noted the engagement put CGB ahead of where they would have been operating on their own.
